From all of the feedback we received about the drafts of the digipaks and magazine adverts we decided to make some changes to which ideas we were going to use for the final ideas.
After all of the feedback we have received we have finally been able to make a decision on what our final digipak will include. We decided to include a filter across the album cover and the magazine advert as many other albums from the indie/dream pop genre have a multi-coloured filter applied over the top of heir images. This would then make sure that our ancillary tasks did fit in with our genre. We decided to make the background of the album black and plain so that the image with the rainbow filter applied would stand out and it will become the main focus of the cover. We then included a white font to contrast against the background which again would make sure that it was eye catching to the consumers. The font chosen is simplistic so that it fits within the genre as the music in the indie/dream pop genre is simple but effective. We also tried to replicate the London Grammar title as they over lap the Ms so we individually added the letters and made them over lap to follow the bands conventions. For the back we decided to centralise the tracklist so that it was the main attraction on the back of the cover. As the promotion of the band isn't a main thing within this genre we decided to follow this convention and included a small black and white image of 'London Grammar' so that it blended in with the background and therefore didn't take the attention away from the tracks. The copyright information also follows conventions by being spread out just under the tracks small so again the focus is on the tracks. The inside image is natural like the genre and we also included to filter to make it fit in more with the rest of the cover. We decided to keep the inside plain and simple as nobody really looks inside of the cover they just take the CD out and close it. Also, we didn't want the cover to become too packed with information as it then wouldn't follow conventions. The spine includes the band name in the middle so that it is the main attraction of it. The record labels are on their to follow conventions as well as the ones on the back of the album cover and the barcode.
For the magazine advert we decided to include the same filter to create brand identity across all of our products. For the main image we took a picture from something that relates to our music video and decided to use it as the main image. This is because it looks natural and simple and if you look at the image it looks like it is about love and that is continued throughout the songs within the album. So even though this image relates to our music video it also relates to the other songs on the album as they follow the same theme. The font used is the same as the one on the album cover so that it creates brand identity and the font can be related to the band. We made the band name big, bold and central so that it became the main information of the poster. We then made the album name quite big but put it to the corner of the poster at the bottom which took the attention away from it and the same with the 'out now' so that the attention wasn't taken away from the main image or the band name but the writing is still clear and obvious for everyone to see. We decided to included an image of the album cover so that it gets extra promotion and it is clear what the album looks like.
