Here I have evaluated 3 different students ancillaries tasks, this was to allow me to see what is typically included within the ancillaries. This also allowed me to assess whether they fitted in with their genre and what i liked and disliked about the products.

Generic Coventions of Digipak and Advert: Dream and Indie Pop
Here I have evaluated all of the conventions included on digipaks and magazine adverts for the indie pop and dream pop genre. This will make it easier for me to make my digipak and advert knowing what to do to follow conventions of my genre.

Conventions of Digipak and advert
I have looked at all of the generic conventions that are included on a magazine advert and a digipak to see what I need to include on one for my music video and what we can challenge to make it different.

Music Video Feedback 4
We showed what we thought was our final music video to the class (also happens to be our target audience). Many of the feedback said that they liked the time lapse that we included within our video at the very beginning, they said that they thought it help to add effect to the video and it also allowed the audience to tell if it is a dream or not. Everyone also said that they liked the overlay we have included on the shots because they add effect to the song and it makes it look cinematic. The storyline of the whole video is effective. The editing tempo was said to match to pace of the song and the lyrics. The monochrome colours used is effective in showing the audience that it is a dream and it adds effects to our music video. The editing was said to be effective generally and the lighting is effective and represented the genre well. The shots that people favoured was the swing dissolving to Milly alone as it was creative and effective, the dancing was also praised as it added a more cinematic feel to the video. The overall narrative of the video was said to be very effective and fitted in well with the genre especially the 'dream' concept. The video was said to have a professional finish to it making it look effective and cinematic.
However, some people said that the camera was a little shaky when we were filming the walking in the woods scenes. But we made this intentionally as it shows that when she is alone it shows she is unstable and needs Ben or love to help her become stable. We found that after the render the dancing scenes were a little too dark in some places so we are going to turn down the effect to make sure the audience is able to see what is going on. We also raised a question to the target audience to see if we needed to keep in the ending of the video make it look like it is a dream. But they said to take it out, so now we have decided to include the same time-lapse we included at the very start of the video but reverse it and have it going from black and white to colour to signify the waking up of the dream in the same way that it showed at the beginning it is going into a dream.
Overall, we are happy with our production after we change the darkness of the dancing and add a completely different ending into our video

Music Video Feedback 3
We showed our music video to one member of our target audience to see what they thought of our final product. He said that he loved the lyric and imagery match that we had throughout of our music video. He liked the sense of enigma due to the breakup that is happening throughout the music video. He also loved the use of monochrome as it add effects to the video and it portrays the emotion of the characters in the video. The slow pace of a few shots fit in with the slow pace of the song and he said it also helped to portray the emotion.
However, he didn't understand the shaky camera shots for example the hand held when she is walking through the woods alone. We used these shots to so that it shows she is weak and unstable alone. He also didn't understand the static vs tracking shots used on the dance. This was mainly to make the piece more cinematic and so it includes a range of different shots.

Music Video Feedback 2
We showed our music video which was nearly a finished production on Friday to get the opinions from our target audience of what they liked and disliked about it and what they think should be changed.
Many people said that they liked the concept of it going from colour to black and white then back to colour again as it makes it look unique. They also like the time lapse as this is where the colour then fades out. They also like the swing where it fades to Milly swinging alone as it signifies that the relationship is fading away. The driving images were said to match and be in time with the music which makes it appear to be more professional and the shots were said to look cinematic adding to the effect of the music video. The focus pull was liked by many too because it represents her feelings when she is left alone. The slow-mo of Freya dancing is liked as well because it represents Milly when she is alone but when she is with Ben the video is normal pace which also then reflects her mood.
However, they said that the music video appeared to be too dark in places which we can easily sort out by changing the contrast of the shots.

Music Video Feedback
Feedback
We showed the end of music video which featured only a dance scene that was edited to the rest of the class in order to get some feedback of how to improve the music video and what they all like about it. They said that they thought it was very cinematic and it looked very professional. They also liked the overlay which we included because it made it so that there were two dancers on the screen. However, some thought that the scene was a little too dark and they didn't get the storyline as there was only that one shot for them to comment on. We have changed the lighting on the shot and made it a little bit lighter which means we took on board the criticism and made it so the target audience would approve.
